South: In the South there houses were built to show the owners wealth. That wasn't really different from today but they also had slaves they treated horribly that was one of the many things that was different. African American's marriage was not recognized by the law. The free blacks made there own communities in the South.
Most free southerners were small farmers who didn't believe in owning slaves. The crops that the south produced were, rice, tobacco, sugar, and cotton.
Today in the south blacks are suppose to be treated fair but I don't really think they have all of there rights yet. Some people who were raised around racist families still have a very hard time.
North: Eli Whitney goes and teaches the kids on plantations how to read and write. Then he invented the cotton gin which is short for cotton engine and that helped make the cotton faster. Cotton was on a rise but they were not able to really sale many because of the little sticky things that took forever to pic out of each thing of cotton. There was a man who sneaked the the important thing to know into the u.s from the british and risked his life. He showed them that they need to make the factories by the rivers for energy. Climate and culture determines whats going to happen. Almost every family in the north had only there own garden to feed there own family. there way of doing things was totally different than the south. the oldest boy son gets the family property and then the other boys have to go to college and live on there own. The daughters pretty much have to get married to a rich man fast and live where he lives. they ended up having girls run major things because they would work on farms for cheap.
West:
The Indians are fighting for their land from the pilgrims. So the government pretty much decides that you can take what you want. So people start to sale the land the Indians lived on to other people. the war of 1812 was between the United States and England. France decides to sell land to America that doubles the size of America. We also won this battle against the British. Everyone wants to be American. Henry Clay is a big fan of the American System. He states that the country should expand and become more powerful. Some people in America did not want America to change. They were the southerners. Pretty much if they have their way the prices would drop.
